A new class of analytic and parameter-free, strongly correlated wavefunctions of simple functional form is derived for few electrons intwo-dimensional quantum dots under high magnetic fields. These wave functionsare constructed through breaking and subsequent restoration of the circularsymmetry, and they offer a natural alternative to the Laughlin andcomposite-fermion functions. Underlying our approach is acollectively-rotating-electron-molecule picture. The angular momenta allowed bymolecular symmetry correspond to the filling-factors' hierarchy of thefractional quantum Hall effect.
